The Controller will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight in the planning, development, execution, and analysis of accounting operations projects, processes, and procedures associated with accounts payable and cash receivables, financial systems support and administration, and payroll. Technical accounting expertise in the interpretation and application of accounting information and partnership in strategic planning for system improvement and company growth.
Directs period end, quarterly reporting, and year end closing; oversees preparation and reconciliation of financial reports. Prepare annual budgets and monthly forecasts. Analyze variations from budget and forecast.
Monitors systems, applications and practices to ensure compliance with corporate policy, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONIBILITIES:
Directs the creation, improvement, and implementation of current financial, accounting, and reporting systems in Restaurant 365 and/or QuickBooks, HRIS/payroll to meet business needs.
Develops sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable business process improvements, including system upgrades, module implementations, “best-practice” assessments, process streamlining, and special projects.
Ensure all projects align with the company’s strategic and financial goals.
Develops and recommends business practices and procedures that focus on enhanced efficiency, increased productivity, and reduced cost; establishes metrics to identify the effectiveness of existing business processes; researches best business practices within and outside the organization.
Oversees accounts payable and receivables functions. Ensures timely and accurate of payment to liabilities and vendors; manages cash requirements and review of open payables; determines and maintains department goals and deadlines for all invoice processing and procedures, and payment processing. Ensures that accounting application are initiated, recorded, and reported in accordance with GAAP accounting practices.
Oversees Payroll Operations processes, projects and procedures to ensure accurate and timely payment of wages; interprets organization policies and governmental regulations affecting payroll procedures; oversees third party reporting and payment of taxes to Federal, State and Local taxing agencies to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Monitor and implement internal controls to protect company assets. Responsible for contract review and approval of new vendor contracts.
Uphold a strict level of confidentiality
Main liaison with the company’s external auditors.
Insurance policy reviews and rate negotiations, along with claim reviews.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field of study isrequired
MBA or CPA is highly preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of accounting or finance experience is required. Prior restaurant/retail experience highly preferred.
Ability to accurately meet deadlines in a changing environment
Strong communication skills both cross functionally and departmentally with ability to build and lead accounting team
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required along with knowledge of project management tools
Strong proficiency with customized Report Writing software
Strong finance, project/capital assessment, technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to operate with competing priorities, often with considerable time constraints.
Strong understanding and experience utilizing QuickBooks and/or Restaurant 365 required
Strong project management skills
Strong sense of urgency in all situations. Ability to adjust to situations, think strategically, and as necessary be hands-on to ensure proper outcome.
Will work in an office environment with occasional standing or walking to perform the essential functions.
Will be required to occasionally lift up to twenty pounds during the course of a workday.
Must be able to communicate effectively with management and team members.

Salary: $65,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year
