Compensation: $12 to $14 per hour DOE

SacTown Sports Bar & Grill is a full operational restaurant and bar that focuses on sports and sports fans. We were recently named the 3rd Best Sports Bar in California by Best of the Best of California. We are located in Old Sacramento across the street from the Sacramento River and one block from the California Train Museum. We are the largest bar/restaurant in Old Sacramento and we are a six minute walk to the Golden One Center and home of the Sacramento Kings. We have over 30 T.V.’s and 30 beers on draft as well as 8 craft cocktails on draft. Our kitchen is high end bar food and we specialize in burgers, philly steaks, wings and assorted other fare.

Compensation & Benefits

​Pay Range: $12 to $14 an hour DOE (More for Head Cook/Kitchen Supervisor)

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items in
ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment according to restaurants
standardized recipes.

Knows and complies consistently with local and state health and labor laws.

Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.

Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.

Clean as you go and sanitize the cook line as well as equipment, walls, floors, hoods, prep tables, salamanders, reach-ins, and line coolers.

Prepares item for grilling and frying or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating.

Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe
specifications.

Assists management team in controlling food cost.

Observes the basic rules of kitchen safety, sanitation and back door safety.

Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.

Handles, stores and rotates all products properly; Stores all food products in specific size pans, covers, dates and places in appropriate cooler using First In First Out (FIFO) rule to ensure proper rotation.

Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.

Promotes teamwork by assisting in cleaning areas of the kitchen, sweeping and mopping, cleaning the coolers, organizing dry storage, etc.

Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations; assists others in closing the kitchen.

Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Head Chef or manager-on-duty.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum of 1 year of equivalent experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.

Prior restaurant experience

Availability during all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

ServSafe Certified

Strong Knife skills

Flexible schedule

Ability to multitask in a noisy, fast-paced, and distraction-filled environment.

Work well under pressure.

Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.

Punctual

Organized

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is required to stand for long periods as well as walk, bend and stoop. The position requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers and visually inspect, including close and distance vision. The position requires ability to use arms, hands and manipulate fingers to reach, stir, measure, pour, cut, chop, dice, decorate, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
