Duties and Responsibilities
The Catering Sales Manager’s job has a primary emphasis on generating catering sales for events, corporate events and social functions. This position will concentrate on the selling, detailing and final execution of those events. This individual will report to the Executive Director and work closely to ensure that he/she is obtaining the highest revenues and profits for the Club by upselling and adhering to the minimum guidelines set forth by the Director.
 
The Catering Manager will meet with clients to discuss their events regarding menu content, timelines, décor and set-up instructions. The highest level of professionalism and client satisfaction will be expected.
 
All necessary documentation, including contracts, banquet event orders, room diagrams, and payment schedules will be produced by the Catering Sales Manager, who will be solely responsible for the distribution of all paperwork for each of his/her events. This person will have the ultimate responsibility of following through with the Banquet and Culinary staff to confirm that they have received the most accurate and updated information regarding each event. 
 
The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing his/her functions and working closely with the Executive Chef and Banquet Staff to ensure a successful event. Prior to each event, this person will complete room inspections, meet with the kitchen and dining room staff to ensure proper food presentation, food quality and service execution and will greet and welcome their client upon arrival.
 
This person will be responsible for providing the Director with accurate financial forecasts each week by obtaining detailed information and budgets from confirmed clientele.
 
He/she will assist with marketing the Club to gain additional clientele. This position will require the individual to develop and maintain excellent relationships with existing clients to ensure long term loyalty and patronage to the Club.
 
The Catering Sales Manager will work closely with all departments to ensure the feasibility and most profitable course for all events, making every effort to keep food costs and labor costs in line, while providing the client with superb service and product.
 

Typical activities include:

  • planning menus in consultation with Chefs
  • ordering supplies
  • hiring, training, supervising and motivating permanent and temporary staff
  • coordinating and ongoing communication with Banquet Captains
  • organizing staff assignments 
  • ensuring that health and safety regulations are strictly observed, recorded and archived
  • monitoring the quality of the product and service provided
  • keeping to budgets and maintaining financial and administrative records
  • overseeing the processing of deposits and financial schedule with clients

Requirements
College degree and at least 2 years of hospitality and/or sales experience OR at least 5 years of hospitality and/or sales experience
BA degree in Hospitality Management or Communications a plus
Strong written and communication skills
Strong knowledge of all Microsoft programs and Google Docs
 
FLSA status: Exempt
