Rooftop General Manager (Philadelphia, PA)

Rooftop General Manager to oversee the operation of two distinct venues – Irwin’s and Bok Bar.

Irwin’s, named after the architect of the Bok building, offers a relaxed dining experience featuring Mediterranean inspired small plates and classic cocktails. Seating for 60 seats inside with a terrace that expands to a total of 110 seats. Since opening in late July 2018, Irwin’s has received notable press (see below).

Bok Bar is a seasonal laid-back outdoor rooftop bar serving beer, wine and easy-to-eat bites while enjoying a view of the city. This upcoming summer the bar will enter its 5th season of operation. A busy evening brings over 2,000 visitors through and therefore the ideal candidate needs to have experience with high-capacity spaces.

The Rooftop General Manager is responsible for the day to day and strategic operations of Bok Bar and Irwin’s, including both beverage and food programs. This is a hands on leadership position that will lead the bar and floor team as part of the property management team. This position requires a tenacious individual who is willing to get dirty when necessary, and inspire the staff to do the same.


Manage all day-to-day operations at Bok Bar and Irwin’s, including floor management, staff management
Provide an exceptional guest experience from entrance to exit
Help to manage all related costs and budgets to ensure profitable operation including and not limited to Labor, COGS, Operational Expenses, and A&G
Develop and execute processes to maintain and improve performance both in revenue efforts and cost control with the assistance of the Controller
Maintain the standards of health, safety, and sanitation throughout the operation including but not limited to the City of Philadelphia Health Inspections
Overseeing inventory management and current licenses
Lead the efforts in recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and retention of staff for both outlets
Lead the department in terms of coaching and counseling employees in order to provide our guests with the best possible experience
Issue progressive discipline in adherence with company policy
Work closely with the management team including but not limited to weekly communication, menu development rollout, coordinating offsite or brand events, and working with partners to meet revenue goals
Work closely with team within Bok to execute an exceptional culinary and guest experience throughout their visit
Work with Events/Wedding teams to sell and execute private events as needed
Required Skills

Degree in hospitality preferred
At least 3 years in a leadership role; 1-2 years in an AGM or GM role
At least 2 years in a hands on hospitality role, bartender or server experience preferred
Strong communication skills; verbal and written
Must possess a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office and POS systems
Basic understanding of Adobe Illustrator and Indesign is helpful, but not required
Ability to make evaluative judgments and give constructive criticism
Have a working knowledge of employment-related federal and state laws
Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong crisis management skills
Positive leader who sets a good example
Ability to train and supervise employees
