Executive Chef – OPENING HOTEL – THE BEN West Palm

Concord Hospitality a leader in hospitality in both lodging and food & beverage is currently seeking a talented Executive Chef to open and lead a passionate culinary team at our new boutique hotel opening this December on the waterfront in downtown West Palm Beach.

The Executive Chef for The Ben will oversee two kitchens supplying cuisine for our first floor restaurant serving three meals daily plus room service, The Studio (gallery like) event space and our executive boardroom as well as our Rooftop Experience which features a 3,800 sq ft Ballroom, outdoor lounge and pool deck with food and beverage service.

As the Executive Chef you will be:

  • Responsible for the development and enhancement of the cuisine that is presented to our guests, making changes and updates for seasons and to keep items fresh and inviting. This role would be responsible for collaboration with the culinary team and General Manager and Sales & Marketing Team to recommend new offerings and to assist with guest or group special needs or requests to include advising on preparation, costs and presentation.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality food product and ensuring food consistency, delivery and standards.
  • Work in support of hotel and team goals to measure effectiveness through F&B profit and service performance of the hotel. Ensure that all goals are geared towards exceeding guest’s expectations. Participate in long range planning.
  • Responsible for the selection, training, and development of the personnel with the department, planning assigning and directing work; provide performance appraisals, rewarding and disciplining employees; ensuring safety measures are adhered to so that a safe work environment is provided to staff and our patrons. Oversee department matters as they relate to federal state and local employment and civil rights laws and requirements.
  • Review staffing levels to ensure guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation.
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
  • Develop and implement guidelines and control procedures for purchasing and receiving areas.
  • Establish goals including performance goals budgets goals, team goals etc
  • Communicate the importance of safety procedures, detailing procedure codes, ensuring employee understanding of safety codes, monitor processes and procedures related to safety.
  • Must be fluent in Concord Internal Audit procedures and train culinary team in all areas of controls
  • Interact with Guests for viable feedback
  • Empower employees with reward and recognition, conform to Concord’s strict support of diversity and inclusion and provide training and development to grow team members to reach and exceed their potential.

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED

6 years of experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.

2-year degree from an accredited Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant management or related major: 4 years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related professional field.

Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) in the work place

Ability to create marketing strategies and promotional menu items with culinary team to attract and increase business volume YOY.

Must have positive attitude at all times and serve as a leader on the hotel’s leadership team.

The Ben pays homage to the historic pioneers in lodging, Byrd and Fred Dewey who operated the Ben Trovoto Estate back in the last 1800’s.
