Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef  3 for University of Pittsburgh, located in Pittsburgh, PA.

The University of Pittsburgh is a large urban campus with an enrollment of 28,000 students. Sodexo provides resident dining, retail, catering, club and sports & leisure on campus with a total volume of $ 39 million annually.Sodexo provides a state of the art, “Restaurant Collection” resident dining program with over 8,000 students on a dining plan.The position will be the campus culinary leader, supporting and directing culinary excellence of all cooks in Market Central.The ideal candidate should have exceptional leadership and team building skills, excellent communication skills, strong client relations, experience in managing high volume and delivering exceptional customer service.

Plan, direct, and control all unit food service and resources to meet operating and financial goals, client objectives, and customer needs in a multi-unit operation.

  • Responsible for analyzing all financial reports for residential and retail operations.
  • Review all financial measurements with directors to ensure achievement of financial goals.
  • Develop operational component forecasts and is able to explain variances.
  • Provide guidance and support in developing action plans to address areas requiring improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with Sodexo Standard of Operations in all residential, retail, and catering operations.
  • Interact with Client Management and maintains effective client and customer relations at all levels with client organization.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies such as safety, wage and hour, sanitation, and purchasing.
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, and succession planning of all talent at location.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of new marketing, sustainability, and culinary concepts for residential and retail locations.

The ideal candidate has:

  • a strong culinary background, with the demonstrated ability to stay current with new culinary trends;
  • excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implements company policies;
  • previous experience working in a high volume facility; and
  • strong management skills.

Provides culinary leadership within a large sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
Key Duties

– Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
– Manages catering & retail areas.
– Customer & Client satisfaction.
– Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
– Manages food & physical safety programs.
 

Basic Education Requirement – Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience – 3 years   

Basic Functional Experience – 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
