Basic Purpose of Position:


Courteously greets and escorts guests to tables and assist in seating guests in an efficient manner in accordance with company standards. Assists in preparing the restaurant for service and maintains the cleanliness of the restaurant at all times. Directs, implements and maintains a philosophy congruent with FoodFirst Global Restaurant’s culture, which serves as a guide to all staff members. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain a complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies and procedures and service standards
  • Ensure proper documentation for all accidents and incidents per FoodFirst Global Restaurant policies and procedures
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated patrons and driving while under the influence
  • Maintain a complete knowledge of property layouts, table/seat/station numbers, proper table setups, room capacity, hours of operation, price ranges and dress codes
  • Maintains complete knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation methods, cook time, major ingredients, quality standards, taste, appearance of products, texture, serving temperature, garnish and plate presentation 
  • Escorts guests to tables and assist in seating at tables; present menus and extend congenialities in a prompt and professional manner
  • Extends a courteous departure as guests leave the restaurant
  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service to multiple guests within any given period of time
  • Inspect tables and stations, ensuring that all setups meet the departmental standards.  Check throughout the guests stay, and relay deficiencies to management for immediate follow-up and corrections
  • Ability to endure abundant physical movements throughout the work area
  • Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision
  • Ensure that tables are cleaned and reset according to FoodFirst Global Restuarant standards
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas
  • Be familiar with all restaurant services, features, as well as local attractions and activities, and respond to guest inquiries accurately 
  • Follow weekly deep cleaning schedule
  • Maintain a complete knowledge of preventative maintenance policies and procedures
  • Facilitate and maintain a complete knowledge of computer systems and FoodFirst Global Restaurant policies and procedures
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table setups and room capacity limits 
  • Prepare station chart and assign stations to staff following departmental procedures
  • Answer restaurant telephone courteously and efficiently as specified by FoodFirst Global Restaurant standards 
  • Set-up host/hostess station with necessary supplies; maintain cleanliness at all times.  Report shortages immediately to manager/supervisor
  • Complete closing duties per FoodFirst Global Restaurant standards 
  • Complete all closing reports and check with supervisor before shift ends 
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as scheduled
  • Ensure food and drink quality and presentation 
  • Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and facility requirements
  • Corrects unsafe practices or conditions
  • Promptly and properly completes all daily paperwork and assignments
  • Ensure all open/closing duties are completed before an employee leaves
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Secondary Job Functions:

Language Skills:


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills:


 Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance

Reasoning Ability:


Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed by uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled format

Computer Skills: 


To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a general knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products
