Bar Lead/Assistant Beverage Manager – with room to grow!

The Position:
This position is unique and we are hiring with the intent to groom the lead into a Beverage Management position. We are an upscale event venue, open only for private events & our weekend lounge (Fri & Sat only). Our lounge serves dinner & cocktails along-side live music, every weekend unless we are booked with a large event. We have many other events throughout the month, both on and off-site. We are located in La Jolla Village and cater to an array of clientele. Understanding our guests and area is key.

Schedule:
It’s a somewhat flexible position – Ideal for someone who works on his or her own business at home or who can make US, his/her priority job. Time commitment is approx. 24-30 hrs/week + events. Required days would be Tues/Thrs/Fri/Sat, to start. Interviews will be THIS WEEK. Position starts ASAP.

Duties to Include:
– Weekly: Inventory, Ordering, Staff meeting, Bar Cleaning, Bar Prep, Stocking orders, update menus, etc.
– Bartending shifts every Fri/Sat + the opportunity to pick up ALL events before our other pool of staff. 1-2 closing shifts a weekend. (Small staff to supervise checkouts & side work).
– Cocktail creation & Wine List maintenance
– Overall maintenance and care of the physical bar & all it’s storage areas.

Other Duties with Growth, to include:
– Assistance in putting together sales bids for large events
– Management and schedule of FOH staff
– Assistant managing with large events, on the floor
– Bonus potential based of pour cost & controllables
– Commission potential for those w Sales experience (*TBD)

EXPERIENCE MUST INCLUDE:
– Minimum of 3 -5 years as a GM or Bar Manager at a high volume and upscale establishments. Minimum of 8-10 years in Hospitality
– 1 year minimum experience in Banquets/off-site events/catering
– Experience with inventory, ordering and working closely with Liquor reps
– Maturity with an excellent work ethic
– Upbeat & positive personality
– Mixology/Sommelier background a HUGE PLUS!
– Professional management style and an understanding of basic HR/Labor laws in CA
– Live within a close proximity of La Jolla and have reliable transportation,
– Smart phone, capability to successfully use apps required by our company & computer proficiencies in Word & Excel.
– 3 professional references, 2 must be former supervisors. We WILL contact all your references.
