- Prepare meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure quality with minimum waste
- Reviews menus to identify all foods required for therapeutic diets before preparing food; uses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required. Records menu changes
- Operates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blenders, mixers, grinder etc
- Test and observes food by smelling and tasting for palatability
- Meets meal schedules; serves meals according to portion control for individual servings
- Maintains Food Service Department according to established rules and regulations; directs and assists in performing daily and scheduled cleanings
- Assists in maintaining adequate food supplies
