New American/Californian full service restaurant and bar located near the Giants Ballpark (Oracle) is opening in 2 months. We are seeking a leader to work with the Executive chef to get the restaurant open and then manage the restaurant and bar.
Seeking an experienced General Manager to join our new and growing management team. Candidate must excel at hospitality knowledge, preferably has experience in restaurant openings and should have 2+ years of strong GM and Floor Manager experience. Our group is searching for an energetic General Manager with fine dining or casual fine dining experience who can prepare our staff to deliver amazing hospitality and service to our customers.
Helping hire and put together a FOH team of approximately 25 employees by April 2019.
Working with the Chef, the owners and Assistant General Manager to assist in opening the restaurant and then running all operations of the restaurant once open.
Preparing the restaurant for lunch and dinner service; Daily opening and closing duties.
Supervising floor service throughout lunch and dinner services; interacting with guests to help insure a positive experience and supporting the floor staff to see that our guests receive the highest possible service.
Performing mandatory administrative duties including safe reconciliation, petty cash management, end of service paperwork.
Monitoring the service staff to assist in development and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
Printing floor maps with server stations, leading staff in line-up, and conducting tastings, quizzes, and service and food and beverage training.
Duties will include:
Hiring and training FOH staff for proper service techniques and expectations.
Meeting with and calling professionals in the tourism and hospitality industries who can become partners in driving business to the restaurant.
Crafting promotional materials to convey the virtues of the restaurant and express value to potential clients.
Helping to book and coordinate private events.
Attendance of weekly management meetings and periodic P&L meetings.
Qualified candidates will possess GM/ Floor Manager work experience as well as:
A genuine passion for and strong knowledge of fine food, wine and spirits and a desire to contribute positively and enthusiastically to a growing enterprise in a competitive market.
A minimum of two years’ management experience in a high-volume, fine dining or high-end casual restaurant.
Strong business acumen, and a head for numbers and business accounting.
Strong inter-personal skills, a learned manner for interacting appropriately with guests and employees, and the ability to inspire confidence and passion in others.
Experience using back-of-house administrative functions on a modern POS system (back of house Aloha experience a plus).
